If there hasn't been lust and passion in the kingdom for hundreds of years, why is there still marriage? Wouldn't a single unmarried ruler make more sense?
Maybe traditions, maybe alliances... In that particular case because we have got an idea with two possible storys for that king and that queen. It will be probably the only marriage on the kingdom.
I really like the idea of an evil King or queen, and personally think that the king should be a mighty strong person and the queen his slave.
